It that your BFG 280 being RMA'ed? IF so, contact Support again and again. Last time it took them 1 month to finally ship one, since none where available at their Kahnawake warehouse. It was shipped from Illinois.

Something screwy with EOC's stats... I'm back in the top 20 on the team... 6408avg... I was having trouble getting that kinda avg running SMP and the 4870X2 with my quad at 3.0, I'm now running 2 regular clients at 2.4G and a 4770 which certianly doesn't have the folding power of the X2

Maybe it does Dr.
After all I have yet to see Folding stats for the newest 4770's anywhere.

Perhaps You have a good card there for this!

Your PPD will fluctuate depending on the WUs you get, and if Stanford makes improvements to the core. ATI stuff is supposed to improve for F@H (especially if the WUs get bigger), but as I use nVidia I cannot confirm.

How much of a difference in PPD did you see?

My Q9450 @ 3.3 gets between 5000-6000 (VM Ware SMP) if I turn off the GPU's... so I would think that you would have got around 3000 with your Q6600 (possibly more if you used VMware) ... I looked up the ppd on the 4870x2 and it seems like it sucked for ppd, anly about 3300. So 6408 sounds about right for that rig.

The 4770 only gets a few less ppd then the 4870x2, approx 2800, and if your ocing it, or getting lucky getting better WU's, then you could be doing even better.

However what I think is making the big difference is that when running 2 instances of SMP on a Quad as well as the gpu, the ppd on the GPU or the SMP is reduced (usually I find the GPU hurts from this set up). You can use prifinity to increase the gpu's priority to normal which helps though.

Right now on my e8400, dual gtx 260 rig I'm running 2 instances of the gpu client and 2 instances of the regular FAH system tray client. If I try and run the gpu clients and an instance of the smp client it kills my gtx 260's ppd and my total ppd goes down.

Yay, got myself another PS3 finally. (used) I'll be sure to not tinker with the innards so its still available for repairs/refurb if/when it dies.... I dont play much games (Grand Turismo being the only one) but its basicaly a media player/blu-ray player that is great at folding :) Might get an external fan, I'm 99% sure i fried the last one, but it folded 24/7 for about a year and its in a poorly ventilated room with lots of other electronics....

Gonna make a service call to my octo-gpu box tomorrow, its been getting low ppd and I'm wondering if its the WU's its been crunching or if certain cores have been taking 24hr breaks after EUE's....

And gawd I still havent completed my "new"(now mildly obsolete) computer, you'd think being unemployed now would get me lots of time to work on it.... just gotta overcome the lazyness.

Well I just exhibited a sign of the folding obsession in the last 24 hours...
The primary HDD on my main rig failed and my biggest concern was not finishing the GPU2 work unit it downloaded before it self-destructed
  • FYI the HDD failed because its reallocated sector count shot through the roof (0 -> 1900); not infamous 7200.11 BIOS insta-brick
Anyway I'm happy because I got the rig running again, in time to complete the WU with 40 minutes remaining on the preferred deadline

k Guys, I need some numbers from ppl running VMware. Right now, I'm running a Q9550 at 3.4GHz with 1 VMware instance per 2 cores, for a total of 2 VMware instances on four(4) cores. It is running WU's 2669 and 2675 at 2042.96PPD each... so this totals 4085.92PPD on my CPU.

I'm seeing a lot of numbers by now... I just want to make sure this is somewhat in line with what you all have... Let me know! :)

i7: 1920 - ppd: ~2970 on 3 Vmware clients. Your Q9550 is about right.
