Thumbs up I built my folding box...help me configure it.

Thanks to everyones suggestions in the "New Build" forum, my folding box is up and running and heres the specs:

P5Q Pro mobo
C2D E8400 @ 3.0Ghz
4GB G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ
2 x Asus 8800GS
Corsair TX650
Vista x64
Antec Three Hundred Case

All this box will be doing is folding. So...

1. Should I overclock or not? GPU's, CPU or both?
2. What is the best client for me to use?
3. Should I be running 2 GPU clients and an SMP client at the same time?

Bear in mind that I will be probably need help with any overclocking and f@h client configuration. I barely understand an FSB and words like latency make my head explode.

Thanks.

Single SMP client for the CPU, dual GPU Client for the 8800GSs. Follow the Guides made here: Folding@home - Guide.
Overclocking the CPU will help, be careful about instability.
Overclocking the cards' shaders (only) will help, be careful about instability.

And Insanity...Its still new so you should let it adjust awhile before making it work like a rented mule

Great to have you folding with HWC, RAC it up.

If you decide to run both GPU and CPU clients, make sure the CPU clients priority is set to Idle and the GPU's to Low, you've got keep those cards well fed. That rig will jump you up the rankings at your home forum pretty quickly, should put you third on the daily producers list...

If you need any help setting up the clients, give us a shout...

The Folding clients don't use crossfire or SLI, you run a seperate client for each GPU.

You can run dual nvidia cards on a Crossfire board, but no SLI.
