We have reviewed quite a few of Silverstone’s products here at Hardwarecanucks and today we are going to look at another one: the Kublai KL02B ATX case. Silverstone already has a full stable of highly-regarded enclosures from the mATX Sugo series to the always-expanding series of Temjin cases so it is good to see them launching a completely new series. In the past, reviewers and customers alike have marveled at Silverstone’s high quality manufacturing and engineering brilliance evident in their enclosure designs and they hope to continue this trend with their new Kublai series.

The Kublai series cases are available in two series - the KL01 and KL02 – each with its own configuration of windowed or non-windowed side panels and available in one finish: black matte. The two cases are essentially the same other than the fact that the KL01 comes with a front door while the KL2 does not. For now, all of the Kublai series of enclosures of ATX-sized and do not come with an included power supply. They are all backed up by Silverstone’s 1-year warranty (which is a bit on the short side) and excellent customer support.

In this review we will be taking a closer look at the Silverstone Kublai KL02B case without the optional side window. This is a fully-featured mid-tower case that has a hot-swappable hard drive enclosure and some other interesting stand-outs which will be discussed at bit later. To begin with, it really looks like they have put their right foot forward since this particular case costs about $140CAD which is cheap for a Silverstone case. On the other hand, this puts the KL02 up against some pretty tough competition like the Antec Sonata III which has an included 500W power supply. So, will this ATX-sized case be able to continue Silverstone’s long-standing tradition of high quality products while offering benefits that its cheaper competition does not?
