Overclocking

Please note that overclocking this card will void your warranty.

Since the BFG GTX 280 OCX already carries some quite significant (for a GTX 280) overclocks, we were not expecting that much when it came to overclocking. However, sometimes we get to see these hand-picked pre-overclocked cards really shine when it comes to additional overclocking.

Final Overclocks:

Core: 726Mhz
Shader: 1592Mhz
Memory: 2518Mhz (DDR)

While the overclocks weren’t that bad, we were expecting quite a bit more from the core speeds. 726Mhz was within 1Mhz of where we overclocked our EVGA GTX 280 Superclocked card which means that BFG doesn’t seem to be giving any extra voltage to the core in order to achieve their overclock. The memory on the other hand when above and beyond the call of duty by peaking at a point about 100Mhz faster than the last GTX 280 we had. Once again, this 300Mhz over bone stock values isn’t earth shattering but it is still at the upper reaches of GDDR3 speed.
