SteelSeries Releases Rival 600 Dual Sensor Gaming Mouse

by MAC     |     January 11, 2018

SteelSeries has officially launched the latest member of their Rival gaming mouse lineup, the Rival 600. This new model features the exclusive new TrueMove3+ dual sensor system, as well as an adjustable weight system, split-trigger buttons, silicone grips, and integrated RGB LED lighting.

The centerpiece of the Rival 600 definitely appears to be the new TrueMove3+ dual optical sensor system. This configuration combines the TrueMove3 12,000 DPI/350 IPS optical sensor - which is based on the proven Pixart 3360 - along a second Pixart optical sensor that tracks liftoff distance down to 0.5mm in order to remove jitter and cursor disparity. First introduced in the Rival 310 and Sensei 310, TrueMove3 sensor is advertised by SteelSeries as being the first true 1-to-1 tracking sensor and that it supports on-the-fly CPI/DPI adjustments from 200 to 12,000.

While performance is one aspect, SteelSeries are also touting the numerous physical and technical customization options. The Rival 600 features customizable weight and balance options for up to 256 different combinations. The weights are placed in the sides instead of underneath the mouse, which allows gamers to balance the mouse’s center of gravity to their grip and gameplay style. The Rival 600's default weight is a svelte 96 grams and it comes with eight 4 gram weights, so there's plenty of adjustment possibilities.

Like most gaming mice, the Rival 600 is designed for right-handed individuals, so lefties are left out in the cold again. The sides have been designed with pure silicone grips and there is a soft touch finish on the rest of the body. The left and right click buttons feature mechanical switches that SteelSeries claims are good for up to 60 million clicks.

Internally, there is a 32-bit ARM processor that can retain saved DPI settings, button remappings, macros, and lighting effects. These settings are actually saved on the mouse itself, so you can use it a foreign system without having to install a utility. However, if you do install the SteelSeries Engine Software, you will be able to make customize the eight RGB lighting zones.

The SteelSeries Rival 600 is available now online at SteelSeries.com and Amazon.com for $79.99 USD.
