Razer Debuts World’s First Battery-less Wireless Gaming Mouse

by MAC     |     January 9, 2018

In an impressive feat of technological innovation, Razer has just revealed the world's first battery-less wireless gaming mouse powered by their new Hyperflux Wireless Power Technology. This new product consists of the Razer Mamba HyperFlux gaming mouse and the companion Razer Firefly HyperFlux power mat.

How it works is that the USB-powered mouse mat creates a magnetic field that continuously and seamlessly transfers power directly to the Mamba HyperFlux gaming mouse, so it never needs charging. Furthermore, since the mouse doesn't need a heavy battery it can be as lightweight and flickable as a wired gaming mouse. If you need to travel and don't want to carry the mat with you, no worries there is a wired mode with the included mouse cable.

The mouse communicates with the mat wirelessly via the 2.4GHz frequency band, and thanks to Razer’s proprietary Adaptive Frequency Technology (AFT) it constantly scans and switches to the strongest signal without hampering responsiveness.

The Mamba HyperFlux gaming mouse features a 16,000 DPI 5G optical sensor, which has a 1ms (1000 Hz) polling rate and can handle up to 50G of acceleration. There are nine independently programmable buttons, the main buttons feature mechanical switches, and there's textured scroll wheel. As you would expect from a gaming-oriented product, the mouse has also Razer Chroma RGB LED lighting with 16.8 million customizable colour options. The design is definitely aimed at right-handed individuals, so lefties are regrettably out of luck.

The Razer Firefly HyperFlux mat comes with both hard and cloth mat surfaces, it has a non-slip rubber base, and obviously Razer Chroma RGB LED lighting with 16.8 million customizable colour options. Importantly, surface area shouldn't be a concern since this mat has healthy 355 mm x 282.5 mm dimensions. No word on how much power this mat will draw from the USB port, but it shouldn't be significantly more than just your average wireless mouse.

Priced at a $249.99 USD, the Razer HyperFlux wireless hardware combo will available on RazerStore.com in March 2018 and at select retailers in Q1 2018.
