Drivers and Software bundle

The driver software for the U1 installed on the first attempt on both XP and Vista and worked flawlessly the entire time I was reviewing the card. The U1 drivers are similar in form and function to the Xonar D2 and they are very easy to use and navigate and have a very intuitive design to them. All the major features are presented at the bottom and settings for each technology are available in these corresponding panes. If you already own a Xonar D2 using this device with your laptop will be second nature.

If the screen shots look a bit complicated, you have nothing to worry about since these interfaces are much easier to navigate than they look. This is just Asus' way of bringing all the information you need to an area that is easily accessed. Drivers are a hard thing to get right but Asus has hit the nail on the head with the ease of use presented in these drivers.

There are driver updates to come and here is where we have to voice a word of caution. As you will see in the Gaming section these drivers presented us with some issues in Vista.

ASUS PMP Lite

Included in the software bundle is the ASUS PMP Lite software. This software can convert and add high quality effects to your MP3 or WMA. You can use this application to add Smart Volume Normalization, Dolby Headphone and/or Dolby Virtual speaker W/ Pro Logic IIx and encode them with these technologies to enhance your MP3 or WMA for your personal media player. It is a very intuitive application and extremely easy to learn.
