Stock Thermal Compound vs MX-2


One of the concerns with any cooling solution is that the included thermal paste may not perform as well as retail thermal pastes. With this in mind, HC will attempt to provide comparisons between included thermal compound and a quality retail thermal compound for our air cooling reviews.

These results were obtained using the overclocked 1800 RPM testing methodology.




The included stock thermal compound is a silver based paste, and as you can see from the chart above, it does not fare well against the MX-2.
