| A Closer Look A Closer Look ![]() Initial impressions of this cooler are extremely good. Including a high quality, high volume / pressure fan with a fan controller adds a lot to the package. Also apparent from our first look is the quality of fit and polish. Nothing about this cooler looks or feels like a mass production cooler. ![]() Looking aft with the fan removed, we get some idea of the NT06's girth. Make no mistake, this is a serious piece of hardware. Of special note is the size of the heat pipes which at 8 mm are larger than what we normally see on a 4 heat pipe unit. ![]() In these two shots we get a look at the two passive components in the cooling chain. On the left you can see the 66 fins of the heat exchanger. Being able to see the heatsink through them gives you an idea of the ample space between them for airflow. Pictured on the right is the “copper base with bonded aluminum fins”. We're not sure how much extra cooling this will provide, however it certainly can't hurt. ![]() Finally we get to the business end of this cooler, and in what seems to be fairly standard for air coolers these days, the base is flat, but not by any means smooth. Also visible in this picture is the alternate S775 mounting hardware. As you'll see in the next section, if you're installing the NT06 on a S775 motherboard, save yourself some time by using this set as opposed to the stock all-in-one mount. | ||
