Silverstone Nitrogon NT06 Review

Features

A full description of the NT06's features fan be found on Silverstone's website here Silverstone NT06 .

This is a fairly inclusive set of features / specifications, however a few points require clarification;
  • The “Advanced two way cooling design” is not well defined. The first “way” is obviously the main body of the cooler including the heat pipes and exchanger. We are left to assume that the second “way” comprises the cooling effects of the bonded aluminum lower fins on the CPU heatsink itself. It might seem like nit-picking, but how is the consumer to know if a stated feature is based on actual function, or conversely, just some wild unsubstantiated claim? (Thankfully, in this case, the claim appears to be a valid one).
  • The fan controller is indeed a rear slot I/O design as stated here, and there is an image of the included controller on the exterior side packaging. Unfortunately, the rear of the exterior packaging and the first page of the instruction manual include a conflicting description of the 3.5” aluminum bay fan controller which was apparently included with the first versions of this cooler to ship.
  • Lastly, while Silverstone is not alone in omitting clearance dimensions, this measurement is the most critical for those who take the time to ensure that a new piece of kit is going to be a good fit for their current hardware prior to purchase. This is all the more important when dealing with a low profile CPU cooler like the NT06 (The measurement from motherboard PCB to the base of the fins is 1 7/8” / 47 mm ).
