| Thermaltake Purepower Rx 600W Modular Power Supply Review ![]() Thermaltake Purepower Rx 600W (W0144RU) Power Supply Review Product Number: W0144RU Price: $130 (MSRP) Packaging: Retail Fan Size: 1x 140mm Warranty: 5 Years Availability: Now Manufacturer’s Product Page: Thermaltake Purepower RX Cable Management 600W W0144RU Thermaltake has been known as a premier manufacturer of coolers and cases for some time now and have been releasing these products at fair prices for as long as we can remember. Unfortunately, Thermaltake’s power supplies have had a very much Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality with some units shining in tests while others had a somewhat less austere reception. Within the last few months, Thermaltake has been working on completely revamping its entire lineup of power supplies; they have added the well-received Toughpower series and have updated the Purepower and TR2 series by adding the Rx subcategory. They have also added the Litepower series for budget users. Such an undertaking is immense and goes to show Thermaltake’s commitment to bring products to their customers which go above and beyond market trends. In this review, we will be looking at Thermaltake’s new Purepower Rx 600W modular power supply. This is one of the power supplies in their recently-overhauled Purepower lineup which they are billing as a new winner in the price / performance war. All of the new Thermaltake power supplies are built by Channel Well Technology (CWT) and all of these new units feature a single massive 140mm fan. CWT is a company which has produced units at opposite ends of the performance spectrum with some lacking in performance while others (like the new Toughpower series) are close to the top of the performance spectrum. It will be very interesting to see which CWT shows its face in this review. The Purepower Rx (not to be confused with the older Purepower series) is available in several other output formats other than the 600W unit we are reviewing here today. It is supposed to be an extremely silent yet high-performance power supply and its MSRP about $130 (before rebates) here in Canada gives it a shockingly low price for a 600W modular power supply. To make matters even better, we have had nothing but great help from the customer service at Thermaltake which goes hand-in-hand with their long 5-year warranty. We have seen value-oriented, 600W modular power supplies in the past and have come away with some mixed feelings. Hopefully, the Thermaltake Purepower Rx 600W will live up to its promises and come out as a good performer for a fair price. | ||
