| Installing a 92mm Fan & Performance Results Installing a 92mm Fan & Performance ResultsAs we already mentioned all the way back in the introduction, the HR-03 Rev.A installed onto the BFG 9800 GT Thermointelligence comes with fan clips if you buy the cooler directly from Thermalright. With that magical 92mm fan installed, it can provide some of the best aftermarket cooling performance available outside of water cooling. So, without the necessary fan clips what are we to do? Since the HR-03 Rev.A uses small ridges to stop any installed fan from moving laterally, all we have to do is hold it in place and for that a pair of rubber bands is all you need. Wrap the rubber band around the top of the fan and then down to any flat part underneath the fin assembly and you are good to go. It is as simple as that, but what kind of performance will this little modification net us? ![]() Yup, a mod that costs you less than a penny and the price of a decent 92mm fan will net you this much additional cooling power. We should also mention that an “upright” orientation of the cooler as opposed to BFG’s “wrap around” configuration would lead to even better results. And the best part? It didn't have any issue fitting alongside our slightly oversized Arctic Cooling heatsink. Just beware of abnormally high northbridge coolers. | ||
