Remote Key for starting a computer

Hello, I am looking to create a way to start up my computer without having to actually go to the computer and clicking the boot button.

Remote Start Computer - YouTube (this is basically what I am looking for, just don't know how to exactly set it up)

this is what he is using in the video
Auto Roll 2 Channel RF Remote Control Relay Board

LOL interesting video, That relay is good for 10A @ 120V so you could set it up to switch the AC power on and off and set the bios to turn on when power is restored. If you want to start playing with this kind of stuff you could make your own with an Arduino and a relay shield, set it up to power on when you plug a value into a website or what ever else you dream up.

I have my home heating, air system running off an Arduino system if you actually want to do something yourself.

you have to make sure to use a system that will have a pulse relay adjustable; you need to trigger the relay only 1 second, you don't want it on all the time

Newegg.ca - Antec Mult-Station Basic Internal IR receiver and remote

There used to be a few of these kinds of front panel controls with remote power-on features. This one's just what showed up in a quick search.

I remember seeing a few not long ago and the hell if I can find them now :haha: but I do remember this one for Android devices

It would be a lot easier just to send magic packets to your PC for it to turn on. I was working on something in the past that when your phone was connected to your wifi your computer would stay awake, and when it was disconnected from your wifi your computer would automatically turn off or go to sleep, but I don't have a wifi phone anymore so I dropped the project.

If you haven't already tried it, you might want to have a look at the sleep function. I used to turn all that crap off because I folded 24/7, but have recently been impressed with a couple of PCs that I've allowed to use it. The cheezy logitech wireless keyboard/touchpad I picked up for my livingroom PC even has a button designated to put the PC into sleep mode immediately without waiting for it to time out.
