Difference: VGA, DVI and HDMI?

Sort of depends on what the audio format is, what's transcoding it, and what's the actual audio output device.

Is there a truely lossless digital format? I'd argue that there might be digital formats which oversample to the point where a human shouldn't be able to discern a difference between digital and analog, but it's not truely lossless unless it's analog.

Ultimately, any conversion of audio (an analog source) to digital is based on sample frequency which by the very nature of digital is limited.

I'm going to argue this.

Yes the sample rate is key , but to say it's lossless as analog is not true.
Even analog audio circuits have losses.Transistors and tubes sound different because of this.I assure you , it's totally possible to do lossless digital circuits with a sample rate so high it owns all other types.

are you serious? the thing i noticed when i switched years ago was that the image became "clearer", as in i could read text easier.

From what I always thought...
VGA = Analog video signal
DVI = Digital video signal
HDMI = Digital video signal with audio

Didn't know that DVI could carry sound as well!
