How to run CHKDSK on linux?

My family's laptop has crashed with the bluescreen and it says to run chkdsk /f but i cant because the file is on the broken hard drive so i installed UBCD onto a USB and opened parted magic.

I put the exe file in a custom folder and tried to run it but it doesnt let me run it. is there any other way to run chkdsk?

Linux and Unix do not have a program called chkdsk. It is called fsck.

And provided the distro you are using has man pages, you can find out about any commands you are interested in by using the man command.. as such:
man fsck

There is no chkdsk in linux.. I mean there is a equivalent but I don't recommend to use it.

Your better off using your Windows disk and choosing the "Repair" option then go into that and run the chkdsk utility.

** EDIT **

Noticed the NO CD option. I suggest grabbing Hirens 14.0 and booting into the Mini-XP it has.

And yea, what enab says. ^^^
Connect an external optical drive and boot off that.
You do not need anything special, just a stripped down external PATA or SATA enclosure should work.

*Edit
Hehehe. :P
Enab, you and your XP.

The checker on Linux can't do anything on a Windows partition.
Given that the laptop still knows what windows is, the second you find a way to access the partition the first thing you should do is copy anything worthwhile off of it. CHKDSK can do a lot of harm if it's run on a damaged drive.
