Re-routing optical drive eject button

I'd really like to stealth out my two optical drives and have the eject buttons all in one 5.25" bay. I already bought LED illuminated momentary switches, but I'm cautious about opening up the drive and doing some soldering.

Can anybody give me detailed instructions on how to do this or link me to a thread about it.

I'm not worried about voiding the warranty or anything like that.

It's just a contact switch like any reset or power switch on the case. Unsolder the switch, hang some wires off it at the length you want to go then put the new switch where you want it.

Figure out the contacts on the PCBs where the current switches are connected, and just solder the new switches to those points. You don't even need to disconnect the old switches.

Make sure you add a connector in the cable somewhere though so you can easily remove the drives.
