Default Opening a GTX 470 GPU

FIRST POST YAY!!!

Anyway... I was wondering how you could open a gtx 470 video card. Specifically the PALiT GTX 470. I'd like to paint the fans blue to match the color scheme of my build.

Unscrew the screws on the back of the card, remove the heatsink, etc. It's not a particularly difficult thing to do. However, painting fans in general is not a very good idea. I would suggest that you take a look at this Galaxy GTX 470, since it already has a blue fan: Newegg.ca - Galaxy 70XKH3HS3CUB GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Thanks for the quick reply... lets be honest though. The galaxy card is really ugly. And I'm looking for a graphics card with great cooling so that I can overclock.

The gigabyte super oc 470 is the next on my list, but that sells for like $470

Hmmm.... I don't think Palit supports mods to the card, so be aware that this will likely void your warranty.

I agree with cald, if you pull that fan out you have to deal with taking it appart and puting it back together as well as possibly putting it out of ballance if you dont spray the paint on perfectly evenly.. Id try and find a model that other then this one that has the colors you want or deal with the colors available rather then mod a fan.

Thanks for the advice guys... I'll take it into consideration. I think I'll just save up a little more and get the Gigabyte SOC that I really want.

In a standard case, I don't think you can see the fan of your video card. And also, the Gigabyte SOC GTX 470 is only ~$400 CAD on NewEgg.

paying 400 bucks for a 470 is pure madness IMO
