Mounting a radgrill onto a sidepanel?

Hey all, i was wondering how one would cut a hole into fitting a radiator grill onto a transparent side panel?

It would look something like this: http://resources.vr-zone.com/image_d...b01c92602e.jpg

Is it just a 120mm square cut and then mounting holes? (which i believe are 6/32 tread), or are there better alternatives to cutting into your side panel to mount that fangrill?

Btw, i was interested in putting a 120x3 radgrill onto the side panel of my case.
Thanks!

Using the AC ryan grill pattern, it would look something like this:

how would one go abouts cutting the hole into the side panel for that grill to be mounted on?

Using the AC Ryan template, then drilling the 4 corners with a drill bit to match the corner radius, then I used a jig saw to cut the perimeter. Rather simple.

Sweet, thanks charlie. I figured it was that easy. After you have the perimeter cut out, though, how do you keep the grill mounted on the side panel without it falling off? Seems easy unless i'm suffering from an insane brainfart and cannot figure it out :S

2-sided tape, or drill small enough holes in the corners to run a #6-32 screw into.

Thermal double-face tape, actually... thin (thickness doesn't show), sticks as hell. Perfect for the job.

Otherwise, you can screw a 120mm fan inside to the grill, and squeeze it against the side panel.

what about the 4 corner mounting holes? throw a bolt and nut in there and drill the holes into a side panel? thumbs up or down?
reason being im not sure if the thermal double face tape (even 4010 by scotch) is strong enough to hold the grill on + 3 120mm fans

Of course you can use the 4 corner holes. I couldn't since the grill was very close the edge of the panel, and adding nuts on the inside would not allow the side panel to properly close.

If you locate the grill more to the center of the panel it will be fine.

And don't forget to buy/use a blade that is for plastics cutting! It is indicated on the package.

The teeth on blades used to cut wood are not fine enough and chip the plastic as they cut it resulting in a coarse edge and maybe even breakage.

Also, use masking tape on the window not to scratch it. Then peel it off after you are finished.

Hope this helps.
