Try out all those random things people said they did to fix their 360s
One should be very careful before attempting to play with electronic components unless you are very comfortable and have knowledge on the subject.

You would be surprised at some of the WEIRD stuff I've been hearing, like someone repairing his 360 with grape juice, another one by holding it upsidedown and shaking it while doing the hoola hoops ! Whatever you do, don't use the grape juice method!

So in this situation I guess you are out of luck as it is hard to prove that you didn't open it. Unless you talk to manager and get lucky and they exchange it (mind you after 8 months you better be damn lucky!) they will likely tell you to take it with MS :D
Taking off the faceplate does NOT void your warranty. Taking apart the shell of the Xbox, does. Yeah, Cptn Vortex, the RRoD really sucks, but it is fixable. If you really want to take a shot at fixing it, you should have a look at this PDF. I can gurantee this works because I had the RRoD (Damn Xbox360), and I used the instructions there to fix my xbox. Most of the parts are available at Home Depot and Canadian Tire.

Man that sucks. Well like others say if you can't exchange it try and repair it. OR try and repair it while adding a mod like water cooling and stuff!

I think one of the XBOX modding companies sold a kit with all those parts as well. Basically just bolt mounting the heatsink like some do with PCs. Even putting some MX-2 on there might help as well.

That would be awesome. Many people have done it, along with cutting a window in as well so you can see it all. I think I saw one on XS that was really nicely done. The guy fit a MCP355 pump in along with the proper fitting Koolance blocks I believe. Not sure what his radiator was though.

Just putting MX-2 on it won't really help that much. The problem is that the xbox gets too hot, therefore the X-clamps holding the heatsinks on the GPU and CPU deform, creating a cold connection from the mobo to the CPU, and GPU. Bolting the heatsinks down would be the best option here.

The "blanket trick" should be avoided! You can really screw things up that way. It is farfasrfar better to replace the x-clamps.
