Game recomendations?

I am suprised no-one mentioned it but I thought FEAR was a great horror FPS I am not sure if its more than 5 years old though. I may sound like a douche saying this but it had a few genuinely scary/freaky moments and the action was well done. +1 for diablo2 though I know its older than 5 years... And if you like books and don't mind Fantasy I think The Sword Of Truth Series By Terry Goodkind is one of the best. It just finished and there are 12 books in the series.

No-one mentioned WoW, I was a tragic for 18months excellent mmorpg.

WoW is an alright RPG, but the monthly fee definitely stirred me away from it after a few months. As for RPG-like gameplay, Diablo 2 is where it's at LOL. I stopped playing it about three years ago but since Diablo 3 was announced I simply had to reinstall it to get my dose back in.

For FPS, I highly recommend Day of Defeat: Source. Super fast arcade-like WWII fps at the tip of your fingers. WAY BETTER than CSS.

And for little indy games I like to play Bullet Candy off of Steam. Honestly the best $4 I've ever spent.

For RTS: CnC3 FTW. While I suck at it, I think the gameplay is great.

I use the Logitech cordless controller. Using the profiler you can program the
buttons and joysticks to anything you want. I also use it one handed for FPS too.
A joystick on the wasd keys is great and the few other keys for crouch and stuff,
and still use the mouse of course for aiming and shooting.

Matsta31, I actually have Age of Empire III. I forgot I had it on an old comp. Wonder if I found it, could I install it on this one? For a controller you might look at the XBOX 360 controller for Windows. I bought it for Assassin's Creed and it works well.

ipaine, I've seen ads for H.A.W.X and will definately get it when it comes out. At NCIX I saw many people complaining about their copy of The Witcher coming with no CD Key. Do you know if that was sorted? They put it on sale regularly.

SugarJ, soon as I see Mass Effect on sale somewhere I'm on it. I had a friend recomend it as well.

DK2, I have several racing games for my Play Station (including 2 of the GTA series) so I'll hold off on PC racing for now. Now that I have XP I do plan on getting Far Cry.

tgraszat14, I just may get Diablo2. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons (not the video game, damn I'm old) and RPGs interest me. I liked Final Fantasy XII alot on the PS2.
I know Diablo2 is old but a lot of people seem to have loved it and are dying for the 3rd.

Il Duce, I haven't played online yet (unless you include poker) and want to get a bit better at PC gaming first. I am very unl337 and newbish I think I'd let my team down.<--my teamates, me-->. I already have TF2 and really should just go for it.
TwystedMonkey, I don't know about Fear, I sleep alone in a dark room. Actually I'll throw that on the look for a sale list. Now as far as books go, I read alot of fantasy and The Sword of Truth has been phenominal so far. I own them all up to Chainfire and am waiting for Confessor to come out in paperback. Did you know there is a prequil called "A Debt of Bones" about Abby and Zed when they were younger? It's real short but good. I recomend the series "A Dream of Eagles" by Jack Whyte. It's a historical fiction/fantasy about when Rome left Britton and Britton fell into the Dark Ages. What makes it a fantasy as well is that it is a re-interpritation of the King Arthur tale. Fabullous series, about 8(?) books long.

Boldeagle, "a tragic", that's funny (the title not the prob...condition). I'm avoiding that one at all costs, I'd end up addicted plus I don't like the monthly fee thing.

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but if you like standard RPG hack/slash you should check out Oblivion.

Tons of non-linear gameplay, and great replayability.
