My System Specs

Default Forza Horizon 3

Anyone playing this game? Seems it is gathering seriously good reviews already. What I am most interested in is how the driving experience feels : is it more like classic NFS style with power slides or NFS Porsche Unleashed like, uncontrollable at high speeds ?

I haven't played it yet, but I know the Horizon series in general is a bit more arcade-y than the Forza Motorsport series. You get points for drifts and air and whatnot, and the challenges to go with those.

Do you know what kind of GPUs I need for playing at 1080p with all the eye candy on? I know for cpu I need at least an i5 3570k so I will probably go for a Haswell i5. This will probably be my last build.

I've been keeping an eye on this but not ready to commit to a Windows Store version. Looks like sys reqs are pretty steep but that may have changed with this week's patch

Reading the trail of complaints of gamers with serious hardware I can only say only one thing : that game has no optimization whatsoever. The devs just recommend to throw more powerful hardware at it! I guess teething pains with what else could be a very good title. Smells like GPU upgrade for me.

Ah yes, this does look like it could be fun, but alas, windows store games have no place on my systems.

Ok, I found the issue : the game's engine was developed for a 30FPS lock! ArsTechnica says that switching to the 30FPS locked mode in the game menu allows a 980ti to play without a hitch at 4k2k with high details on cars, terrain and foliage. A fix will be developed in the future for the unlocked mode a Microsoft rep said, take it with a grain of salt! Forza Horizon 3: Performance, framerate, and 4K tests in Windows 10 | Ars Technica

Guys do you think I could play the game on a i5 750 overclocked with a gtx 580? Or should I change the platform completely ? 8GB RAM.

Sounds like it's not well optimized so I doubt the 580 would do much past 30fps. There's a demo out now apparently so this weekend I'll know how it runs on a gtx1070, i5 3570, 8gb
