Plus you can use a PC for work. For me a PC makes more sense as you can upgrade components easily and it covers aspects of entertainment and work nicely. You cant really upgrade or tune consoles-kind of boring.

I think there are a lot of older people brought up with "pcs" through the 80/90's with families who enjoy the range of a PC. Personally I know very few people in my generation who do not tailor their PCs to their needs. But i could be an oddball here.

The PS3 is a nice product, I guess we will see what happens. But if it makes games for kids and teens?
Wii = Kids

xbox360/ps3 = adults

They are saying the new generation of gamers are males in their early to late 30s and they figure its because of the whole BIGGER = BETTER with things like home audio and tvs.

Default but

The Wii seems to be used by a much broader age/sex range than the others? They had a skit on the cbc where its been introduced into an old peoples home.
Your right about ps3/360 being more male but id say most of the owners are probably teens? Anyway i dont know as ive never seen a survey or anything and am just basing it on contacts and personal exp.

strangely enough i remember the first PS being really popular with both sexes and that was very powerful at the time.

I'm not a console gamer myself, but my observations from the POV of a parent are that the PS line seems to have more of the anime / RPG style games which tend to be more popular with young females.

Game consoles have begun to stray into PC and 'home entertainment center' territory, which is, eventually, the next evolution. Kutaragi-san's promotion may work in favour of this.

Well considering in 2008 Sony may release a PVR setup for the ps3, it having a blue ray player and allows for upconverting of dvds I'd say for the price you pay for it you get a really good system.

Considering the hardware in a ps3 and how warm they get I highly doubt that'll happen. When I fold on my ps3 I probably get a 10 degree ambient temperature change.
