My System Specs

Default Dayz / Arma 3

I've heard that Bohemia game runs more off the CPU then the GPU... i have a i5 4670K @ 4.4Ghz

Arma 3 runs in around 30-40fps at ultra and DayZ with the new 0.52 update at 60+ outside cities and 20-25fps in cities

should i upgrade my 4670K to a i7 4790K ?

I hate to sound like a troll but you would upgrade......for DayZ?

Arma requires a crap ton of texture memory. I'd look into a GTX 970 if I were you.

I can't picture the i5 limiting you that much. Have you checked task manager/ afterburner (or equivalent), to see what is limiting you? What is at 100% usage....CPU/gpu/VRAM?

Ctrl+Alt+Delete and bring up your 'Task Manager' and the 'Processes' and 'Performance' tab will tell you a lot of that depending on what version of Windows you're running.

That gets you CPU and ram usage. Do that, run your game for a bit, then exit and look at if CPU was pegged at near 100%. If it is then the CPU is limiting you (bottleneck)...I don't think it will be the case. Also see how your ram usage is.

Apply the same idea only use MSI afterburner (if you don't already have a similar program installed). It will display your % gpu usage, and VRAM usage.

Once you look at all those you can easily see what is limiting your fps.

For example, when I had a phenom II 710 and gtx 460, in BF3 my gpu was the bottleneck (100% use and CPU was 75%), but in late games of Starcraft II it was CPU limited (CPU would be 100%, and gpu would be 50-60%).
