Default Does anyone else wish that Blizzard had continued to make Warcraft

The add services got me with the teaser videos for Warlords of Draenor, and I haven't been puting in much effort into avoiding them. I've watched a few of them, but they have only made me sad that instead of getting a good RTS game with a potentially great story, this effort is going into WoW. I know that Bliz makes huge money on WoW, and that a lot of people love it, but to me it feels like a low rent DAoC reskinned for WoW. Just don't get it.

This is what happens when a company knows they can make a quick buck or two.

Although I'm a former progression raider in WoW, I very much wish that an RTS Warcraft 4 had come out.

This is why I still periodically load up WCIII and Frozen Throne and play the hell out of it for a couple of weeks. Starcraft II was entertaining and all, but I miss the WC world of RTS...even if I was never very good at it. Awesome stories.

Ditto.

To this day I still play Red Alert too once in a while.

I also liked and spent many an hours/days playing WC III + Frozen Throne.

Got a lot of my friends hooked on it to way back then.

I should re-load it as well.

I sometimes wonder if things would have gone differently if DLC had been generally acceptable back in those days. It would have been interesting if they had done the Thrall stories via DLC in WCIII.

I'm not a fan of Blizzard games. They don't suit my taste. But I feel I should note it is a company that has cancelled multiple nearly-completed AAA titles because the games did not live up to company standards.

Further, I was surprised to read wod will only be the fifth wow expansion. That's hardly milking it.

In any case, new wow content and Warcraft RTS games are not mutually exclusive things. Blizzard is obviously capable of developing both simultaneously.

IMO, the reason we haven't seen a new Warcraft RTS is because it has immensely high standards to live up to.

I gave up on Blizzard games after Diablo II. It just wasn't 'fun' for me. More of a nearly storyless clickfest. I heard a lot of good about Warcraft III, but for some reason Blizzard games leave me with a 'meh' impression everytime I read about them.
