Default Star Wars: Attack Squadrons Announced

"Star Wars™ : Attack Squadrons is a free-to-play online space combat game where players customize iconic Star Wars™ ships and engage in high-velocity 16 player dogfights in fabled Star Wars locations."

I have a feeling that this is going to suck and it will just be a crap console port (yeah i said it!) but i'm still interested.

STAR WARS: Attack Squadrons - Play Free STAR WARS Game Online

I also fear that it will be Pay-2-Win instead of Free-to-Play.

I do however feel like Playing some Tie Fighter now

Thoughts anyone?

Actually, it will probably be relatively fun. Judging from the website it looks as though they've copied the ship portion of Battlefront II minus the ability to go aboard the larger carriers on foot.

Hardly original, but neither was Battlefield's Play for Free games and those are fairly amusing considering they're free. I give the star wars game a 7/10 from what I see.

Arcadey at best, but from the videos I do not have high hopes about this. F2P is another reason. O, and Disney who has next to no game making experience and shuttered the one of the few studios who could have made it decent. I predict shortly there will be much better space games out and this will be quickly forgotten.

Who was doing the voices in the video.....

I won't even look at it without a single player component attached.

Sadly the way that most games are going is this way. With some exceptions that have failed (C&C being a notable one, thank god). I don't know why but I suppose these micro-transaction games have a good enough business model to have everyone adopting them.

It all depends on how they setup the micro-transactions and what you get as a result. If it is setup like WoT were gold only gets you more silver / XP and the premium tanks are worse than their Tier Equivalents then it can be a winner.

As long as I get to fly an X-wing or Tie Fighter again, I'll be happy to try it out.

Ask Perineum's Mom, She know's where your joystick is.

I already have my "stick" out, but that's because over the holidays i'm putting together a computer that dual boots WinXP and Win8 So I can play some good old Tie Fighter(Still have the win95/win98 cd).

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about this in the hope it doesn't turn into something arcadey and horrible. We fans have waited long enough for a proper replacement, I really hope they don't disappoint.
