rest off the house does not want to hear my game so headphones.
less wires and boxes to fight all over the desk than my 5.1 speakers.

I use headphone exclusively for gaming, decent pair of Grados. I don't see me changing that any time soon. Music is the one thing that I consider speakers for is music, apart from that headphones all the way.

You can get a fairly decent directional sound from headphones, but it will never be quite as accurate as having multiple speakers. Other than that I prefer headphones for gaming.

50 / 50 for me. Prefer speakers, but headphones after the family's in bed or when using the mic.

I always use headphones for gaming. I use HD555's and a Blue Yeti Mic.

Default SWTOR phones on my head

After much research and careful deliberation I decided to buy the pair that was on the deepest discount :P

The Razer SWTOR phones are 7.1 surround sound and I can light up my ears any colour I want - that and more than a 50% discount for discontinued products at Memory Express what was not to like? And like othes have said the whole household does not want to hear the sound of my car crashing into the wall at 300 km/hr.

And while they do have a pull down mic I've never used it. I haven't played on-line against anyone in a game so don't have any comment on what others may or may not say in the game. I don't think the words of encouragement from my Dirt3 navigator count.

(that's an old photo - should update - I have a G27 wheel now)

Well I guess that answers my speculations. Most people seem to use head phones to not bother the rest of the house hold and not really to communicate with others in games like BF4. I'm trying to decide where to spend the funds on cyber Monday this year I think I'll take a pass on the headphones for now.

Thanks everyone

As others have said, I use a combination of speakers and headphones. Basically I use the speakers all the time unless it is late and I do not want to bother others or I party up with a group and want to be able to use my mic.

Headset and TeamSpeak when playing games with friends. For everything else, speakers.
