Once I had my own house I tried to game with speakers - went back to headphones shortly after.

Something about headphones just feels "right", maybe it makes it more immersive for me.

I game with speakers for FPS shooters for true 5.1 awareness, most other stuff sounds better through my headphones which only makes sense as they cost twice as much as my speakers did.

Speaking of my headphones..... I just have a Zotac clip-on mic, but I like the looks of the Antlion.

Get good quality headphones. I only play games with headphones as I like it to not disturb people and to block out noise. Basically I like them the most for blocking out all other noises so you only hear the game.

Plus the mic helps when playing with friends.

Headphones 100% of the time. Speakers aren't really an option in my case. Denon D2000. Work decent for gaming since they have tons of soundstage for a closed headphone.

Headphones as well since they provide better isolation from outside noise. My gaming pc is in the living room which is noisy most the time.

I should say it's pretty annoying when people with speakers try to use their mic in game and all you hear is their speakers blaring the game...

I game with my Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset. I can't go back to my desk speakers anymore. The reduction in sound quality is just unbearable. The wife uses the desk speakers to listen to her iTunes music on my computer (ask me how I feel about having iTunes on my gaming rig! )
