Steamed about STEAM
Started this install two hours ago.

I know I don't have a fast internet, that's why I buy my games on DVD - but even then I have to install via Steam. I am going to have to read the fine print on games in the future to see that they do not use STEAM. This is crazy.

Yup. DD is evil but four hours really isn't that bad. What concerns me much, much more about it is the fact you can actually lose your game(s). I have decades old games I have no fear of not being able to play...ever.

better to do that stuff before bed heh... then you wake up in the mern shes ready to go!

Just start it and forget about it thats my advice. I'm blessed with a fast internet connection so rarely wait longer than an hour.

Bioshock Infinite did take quite a while to instal from disk for me though, I dont think that thats steams fault I just think the data is compressed that much on disks these days.

And @ IRQ Conflict. I dont have that fear at all, infact I play more games from 10 years ago because I have steam and dont have to worry at all about 5 or 6 cds getting scratched or lost.

no different then EA took 3 days to load bf3

Two hours later, and its gone from 4 hours and 7 minutes left to go, to 4 hours and 11 minutes left. Oh bother.

As for never losing a game. I loaded Avatar through steam - and now I can't find the disk, and the game is not on my Steam account either, so I must have done something wrong. Not too worried about it, played the game a little while before deciding it really wasn't my thing. Can't get into these F.P.S. style games. Racing and Flying is more my thing.

Thinking of looking into that Tank game, ... or should a person with a 2.5 - 4.5 Mbps internet connection not even think about such a thing.

Well it's midnight and I'm going to bed - started this at about 2:00 this afternoon - and Steam tells me that it only has seven minutes left - so it should be done sometime in the next hour. This game better be worth it.

That's the price you pay for living in Rural Alberta. Too bad CCI wireless doesn't have coverage in your area. I get 7Mbps unlimited.

I always try to DL at night if possible. If I forget, or if during the day I think "I should DL that later" I have wake on lan enabled and I can turn on my PC from anywhere with my phone and use teamviewer to start a download.

If you live in Quebec, Videotron is the way to go for your ISP.
