Your TOP 5 of the best games you have ever played

I thought it would be a good idea to make that thread,so let's go for my top 5 best games ever.

I know some people will disagree but i'm sorry,i like recent games because i think technology allows us to make better games, personally i'm not gonna say Super Mario bros is the best game ever.I know a game is awesome when you are nostalgic a year after playing it or when you do 2 hours of research about voice actors and stuff after finishing it, that's all! Please stick to the top 5.

I think it's also a good idea to discover new games you didn't know,or heard about but you were too lazy to play them,it can make you buy them^^

5:Crysis 1

4:Assassin's creed 3

3:FarCry 3

2:Mirror's edge

1:Mass effect 3 (it's an epic movie and a game at the same time,it's amazing)

(not necessarily in order of preference)

1: Original Civ
2: Elite
3: Doom
4: Wizardry / Ultima series (didn't want to have to chose between the two.... ;) )
5: Oblivion

edit: And I'm sorry but I disagree with your viewpoint WRT new games vrs old. I'd much rather have 500+ hours of gameplay in 8 colours than 20 hours will all the eyecandy that today's hardware will allow.... ;)

1. BF3 (online component, not SP campaign) - I continue to play this game almost daily, and I'm having a LOT of fun doing it.

2. Civilization V - I've burned about 200 hours on this game, usually playing online PVP.

3. Age of Empires (II and III) - Once again, online component, playing PVP skirmishes.

4. Fallout 2

5. Monkey Island 2: Lechuck's Revenge

1. Grim Fandango(Just awesome this and all the money island games are awesome time killers and really make you love the characters like reading a good book)

2. FF8 (the characters and game style was just awesome it was right up there with legends of dragoon)

3.Fallout Tactics (The start of my fallout love affair and the game that made me play all the fallouts over and over)

4. Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines (Played way way to many hours of this game over and over)

5.Borderlands 1 and 2 (playing as a group of friends)

I by no means rip through games. In fact if I play one through fully every 6 months, it's unusual.

5: Forza series: sucker for cars, so this is a no brainier. Even though nothing jumped out specifically, the time I enjoyed meant it had to be on the list.

4: Fable - I was hooked from the get go, really enjoyed this one.

3: Shadow of the Colossus - incredible game IMO, unique that awed me. Picked it up with Ico in a bundle, awesome deal as they're both great games.

2: FF8 - I'll admit 7 has a superior story, but something about 8 did it for me.

1: WoW: Without a doubt I've never had as many good times in a game as I have in WoW. Great memories, great friends and lets face it, that many people playing a game for as long as most do likely aren't wrong. I'm not claiming it to be the best, but it's certainly something else.

Not sure why that one slipped on my list but certainly in my top 10 although the original Diablo was a bit short (IIRC) and much less open than DII but DII took 5 years to become the amazing game that it ended up as. DIII is improving, and I'm sure I'll get a good year's worth of play out of it, but I'm not sure it'll have the same legs as DII had(has).

1: DeusEx (original)
2: Master of Orion II

Edit: Eeeeek! I left out Baldurs Gate I and II = Have to remove Far Cry from the list. :haha:
