I use the passenger seat out of a 2008 GMC Express 2500 van. It's mated to the custom racing cockpit I built in the living room.

Herman Miller Aeron. It isn't comfortable but I do not get any back pain unlike every other seat I've sat in. I will upgrade to an Embody sometime in the next year or two hopefully.

edit: Recalled something that wasn't true, and keeping it in the post didn't make much sense after I looked it up...

I have the exact same chair - works great for me, and I spend WAY too much time in it.

We have Serta Chairs at the office and my staff don't complain about them at all and they have stood up to daily use for a few years now.

I just moved out to the West coast and finally have my own place. I've been prowling Craigslist for the last 2 weeks waiting for an Aeron or similar, like a steelcase or something, to get posted. No luck yet but i'm willing to wait!

This!
Me and my brother pulled some Recaros out of an Integra years ago and mounted them to some normal office chair bases and they were the best damn chairs I've ever used. We actually had them in the kitchen half the time even.
Car seats are the way to go if you have the time.

Car seats can be a very cheap, yet very comfortable alternative.

I have a Ikea MARKUS, not a bad $200 chair. The back is a mesh and breathes. Doubt it compares to that $1200 chair, doesn't matter what chair you have you should get up and move at least once an hour for a few minutes and exercise. Maybe see a trainer or a therapist if its bad enough to get proper exercises to work on your lower back. I wreaked my back when I was younger and my family doctor was useless and gave generic exercises that actually worsened the problem.
