Good Games For A 4 Yr Old My son wants some good games, basically anything that doesn't involve reading. He loves minecraft and loves fps games but I dont want him playing the gore or violent filled ones yet. His computer is an Athlon 64 X2 4600+ with a 6450 so he can't play anything modern. Stuff 5-8yrs old would be best. What can you guys suggest? |
Tetris? |
Spore is a fantastic kid's game, although realistically his gpu may have some problems with it. it doesn't need much, but it needs more than a 6450. |
If he likes minecraft try introducing him to terraria and if he likes that he can play starbound in the near future. |
If I were you I would try to get an emulator of nearly any Nintendo system. They usually have TONS of kiddie games. |
Audiosurf, any of the BIT.Trip games, Blocks That Matter, Binding of Isaac, Braid, Cave Story+, Crayon Physics, Dead Pixels, Flock, HOARD, Limbo, LEGO games, Orcs Must Die 1 & 2, Portal 1 & 2, Super Crate Box, Super Meat Boy, Team Fortress 2, The Sims (or MySims), VVVVVV, World of Goo, World of Zoo. I'd agree with Spore as well. Just went through my Steam games list for most of those and I think most of those should be fine for a youngin. Not sure if any are too complex for a, can't remember what a 4 year old's thinking capacity is like :) A lot of the games allow you to use a 360 controller with them, if you have one. Super Meat Boy basically requires one. You could also setup an emulator (NES, SNES, Sega, N64, etc.) and then just download a ROM pack. Again, a controller would be best. |
Excellent suggestions. He has a modded wii with about 2000 various Roms so he has that part covered. Since its free now I'm going to get him bf1942. My wife has several of those little steam games headshot suggested so ill see what he likes there as well. |
I'm jelly. Lil Bungz only wants to watch Youtube. gunna have to get on that. |
My son (also 4) and daughter (now 8) like to go on coolmathgames.com, lots of fun little flash based games on there, quite a few of the physics based puzzles (Rudolph kicking Santa to a chimney comes to mind, the kids really got a kick out of that one ... no pun intended). |
