Default The Secret World.

Anyone going to play this? Saw some trailers and game play videos, looks interesting. A modern day fantasy MMO. Decent graphics too. And it is not all about slogging your way through levels.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of elves, orcs and dwarves.

Like what headshot said, but I was slightly more enthused about it, just because there were no elves and orcs, but the lag and fight mechanics were horrid (I thought). Wasted half my monthly bandwidth on it, and regretted 80% of what I played.

Prediction: Free2play model within 24months.

Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent idea for an MMORPG, with seemingly massive scale, it could be great if all the bugs were ironed out. As a non-MMORPG fanatic I found the asking price a little high.

Reviving a very old thread here but anyone else playing The Secret World these days? It's certainly come a long way from the few posts in this original thread. It has been on my Steam list for a while and I just picked up the Ultimate Edition in the latest sale. Played several hours, so far I quite like it. Interesting mechanics (I like the mobile combat, the ability to create skill decks or builds, and the open or no class system), still good graphics, excellent dialog IMO.

Creeps me out a bit but that isn't necessarily a negative, just means they are doing it right! :)

I always had this one on my radar because I like The Longest Journey and Dreamfall a lot. An MMO by Ragnar Tornquist seemed like a solid idea.

But I really dislike the grind of MMOs and heard it was pretty grindy initially. ESO's the only one I'm playing right now and I'm pretty much just single-player'ing it.

One day I may take a stab at it. But I still haven't started Dreamfall chapters yet, so....

I bought this game a long while back and never got a chance to play it. Maybe I'll have to install it and try sometime...

ESO is pretty high on my MMORPG list right now too. I'm spread too thin in games to progress any very quickly but ah well, no rush! I do like the fact that TSW is a completely different setting than the fantasy genres I am usually drawn to and now that it is buy to play I can play it at my leisure without feeling compelled to get my monies worth from a monthly sub. So far it certainly doesn't feel grindy but I am not very far in yet. Could have changed a lot since the early days. Several months back (IIRC) they completely redid their new player experience and people seemed pretty pleased with it. That was the news that made me start paying attention to it.
