cheat engine is a free memory editing tool, to give yourself more gold/lives/whatever resources your game uses. It's not malware

cheat engine is a legitimate hex editor, you can pretty much hack/edit any programs with it games being the intended us but not limited to. Its not malware but kids probably shouldnt play with it as editing the wrong thing can cause crashes.

Although if the kid knows how to hex edit and isnt just blindly changing things, good for him.
