I believe the goal was to try to have a mainly populated server, hence buying the 64 slot one, however it seems that its really just not getting populated. Part of the problem could be people whom share the same view as your Skyllz and don't want to join a low populated game, get enough of those, even HwC guys and the population on the server will always stay low/small.

Then the question is how can you make the server come up in searches so there is always 30+ people on it?

By being standard and not changing setup every 2nd day so people who come and have a good game one evening dont come the next day finding rules have changed and wont bother to read the admin messages to check what is the "schedule" of the server.

I've joined a few games on HwC so far and will continue to do so when I can, it's nice to have fun on a lag free server.

I understand, my clan has struggled to get our game server going through the years for cod4/cod:waw/blackops/bc2. I will try to play more on it, I'm just trying to keep my score/min up, so I don't like lulls in the action :P

edit: I agree with skyllz, it should be hardcore or non-hardcore. For pubs joining, most play one or the other. If they have a good time and favorite, only to come back and have it be HC (or vise versa) then they won't stick around.

Well, I was on around 9:30 PST and there were 2 of us. A few other HWC'ers jumped in to make it 5 a side after 20 minutes or so.

I'll agree that to keep the server fully populated we'd probably have to change to normal settings. That's one of the reasons why I voted for a 50/50 split.

It's not a matter of having the game settings on Normal or Hardcore, it's a matter of having people IN the server. No one is going to join a 64 player conquest server with 0 people in it. Even when we've had 10-15 people no one seems to join. Funny enough I set the server to Team Death Match a few nights ago and I also forgot to cap the player limit at 24, so like 20 minutes later there was 52/64 players in the server playing TDM. Why? Because you don't need as many players to play a game of team death match and there are also alot less TDM servers than Conquest/Rush.

I would say we should get a bunch of people to idle in the server like hades suggested but I don't see a way to get rid of the idle kick ATM. I have the server set for 40 player Rush right now, so we might have a better shot at populating if we get a few people in there. I could leave it set for Rush for the rest of the day and see how that pans out if you guys wanna attempt to populate it.
