Default Gaming in 3D, is it worth it?

Next investments in my computer will be video card and possibly monitors.
Is 3d gaming actually worth it?
How much does screen size affect the 3d experience?

Needed stuff to run it.
Video card that does 3D
Monitors that do 3D(what about multi-monitor 3D?)
Stupid 3D glasses
Games that can play in 3D
Anything else?

I would say gaming across 3 or more monitors you gain a lot more then just the added in 3D effect that can cause headaches in quite a few people.

Let me preface this by saying a loathe 3D movies, be they in the theater or at home.

I only game in 3D on NVIDIA's solution. AMD's 3D solution is (to put it frankly) a damn joke and an embarrassment to 3D fans.

If you are thinking about buying 3D Vision though, I would ask you to wait a few weeks. I can't tell you why but you'll thank me later.

One thing you will want to remember is that a stupidly powerful system is needed to use stereo 3D across multiple monitors at reasonable in-game detail levels. For example, in Crysis 2 I have to turn everything down to medium settings and disable high res textures. And that's on a GTX 580 3GB SLI system...

I think size makes a big difference in 3d gaming. I game in 3d with 3d vision and a Benq mw512 120hz projector. I love it. 110" throw about 8 feet from where I sit. Total immersion and wow factor. Definitely adds to the gaming experience.
Games are hit and miss with the quality of the 3d image. Some have issues with rendering certain things at the correct depth but games like Just Cause 2 and AC brotherhood are amazing in 3D.

im kind of intrigued by 3d gaming but i know right when i purchase at tv there's going to come out with 3d tv's/monitors that dont require glasses. 3d without glasses would be twice as good

No, run away fast from anything 3D. Useless gimick that makes your head hurt and degrades visuals.

Well I have an eyefinity pc and a 3D projector for my HTPC. The 3D is pretty cool, I'd say I prefer it for certain types of games. However I'd call it a disadvantage for the fast paced FPS as it's more distracting than regular 2D. It just depends what you play. If you play online/competitive games, stay with 2D and go surround/eyefinity if you'd like. If playing online isn't your thing, I'd say go for it.

Also, if possible try it out somewhere before you buy. 3D doesn't work for everyone and not everyone finds it enjoyable.

I like 3D vision and also watch the occasional 3D movie on my computer. There are some problems though. You need a monster of a machine if you want max graphical settings and only a fee games do it very well. I wish I would have gone with 3 monitors instead of one 3D monitor.

Default 3D gaming is much more affordable now in 2011

I think considering how affordable 3D gaming is getting there is no reason not to do it. A tv from Samsung has been on sale all over Ontario from different big name stores for $999 to $1089 and it included a kit that had 2 x 3D glasses and the Shrek movies in 3D. The tv, a 51" Samsung plasma 1080p tv, is well rated by many and I can say that after getting used to dealing with burn in and making sure I run programs to get rid of it I can definitely say this tv is awesome. It has much richer color than the LCDs I have had and the 3D experience is just plain fun. I will say that having the ability to turn 2D into 3D also is cool and yes at times it doesn't do much but there are moments where it does shine and make your viewing experience more enjoyable. I say 3D gaming is worth it considering the price now.
