Default EA Store/Origin

Is there anyway to avoid paying the taxes? If I were to pay taxes, I'd rather just buy the physical DVD/box and does that money even go to the Canadian government? 0_o

Buy from a different place, unless Origin is having a sale. I have only bought one thing from EA Store and that was Hellgate: London way back when, I don't recall paying taxes but I could be wrong. I don't see why you would pay taxes though, Steam/D2D/Impulse/Green Man Gaming don't charge tax. Does it actually show tax or just a place for it?

Edit: Well I fired up Origin to check for myself, clicked the preorder BF3 thing and it shows 59.99 with 0 in the taxes line. I know some states have to pay taxes, but you shouldn't have to. You should see 0 on that line.

I would order from D2D, but Origin gives the Physical Warfare pack and access to the beta. Also, after I press checkout (with PayPal selected), before total, there's a row that says taxes ($7.80).

Edit: This is for BF3 BTW.

Did you ever have to pay tax from Steam/D2D or the others?

Are you trying to buy the physical copy (I know sometimes they give you the option)?

I've never paid taxes for Steam or D2D. And no, I'm getting digital. On the EA Store/Origin thing, it says Ontario charges taxes for digital downloads. W T F . . .

I wonder if the other DD's are required to charge tax now for Ontario residents.

Did you select PayPal as payment option and press next/checkout?

I did not, I figured it has my location info it should show it. Well as long as Origin is the only place that charges tax guess I won't buy from them.

Is the physical warfare pack really worth the extra 14$? May as well grab it from D2D and get the 10% of the preorder.

Or if you really want the warfare pack preorder from impulse.

It would seem only Origin offers the early beta access, though they don't specify how early "early" is. I guess if early access is important to you you'll have to pony up the extra 7-14$. Though it seems some people got an email from EA's gun club with a 25% off coupon on shooters which could be used on BF3. I didn't get it but perhaps you did?

Pretty sure Gamersgate does not charge taxes, yeah they don't, I've used them a few times.

Don't ask me why though, I have no clue. I paid tax on my BF3 pre-order, but I still came out ahead. Direct2Drive has it for $54ish and comes with the Karkand pack.

Edit: Seems like you already saw that link, I missed it. Whoops.
