Originally you could get DA2 from Steam, however back when they announced it and EA had their special edition on for a limited time (it was the same price as the standard copy) I jumped and got it from them. The day after their pre-order sale ended it was announced and available on steam. I guess since then its been pulled with EA wanting people to use their service instead.

The one thing I guess that'll irk me with Origin is that you have to pay your local sales tax with them, whereas I never recall having to pay my local sales tax with D2D or Steam.
Here I am: here I remain

If you want a price comparison, DA2 has been on sale digitally from 12-25 USD, and possibly without tax depending on where you purchase from. Amazon has it for $25 US currently, Amazon.com: Dragon Age 2: Game Downloads I'm not sure if Amazon PC downloads charges tax for Canada.
