I was a PC gamer about 7 years ago, then I switched to consoles because it's so expensive to keep upgrading a gaming PC.
and two weeks ago, I built a new PC, and it feels so good to play games on a desktop again.
I've been playing bad company 2 with all settings on high. it's so much better than on a console.
and I never had problems finding people to play with, the only problem is sometimes I have to wait because there're too many people playing.

I agree. I play xbox live with friends, but PC otherwise. Also, unless consoles start using mouse/keyboard, RTS games will never work on console. Anyone remember trying to play starcraft 64? Plus if you have to travel somewhere, it's pretty convenient to take your laptop with you (as opposed to a console) and be able to play games wherever you want. Oh yeah, and NO DISCS! I hate discs.

iPad like products are what may change the gaming landscape.
PC gaming isn't going anywhere except where it belongs(the top).

Lets face it... Porn and gaming are very important to the overall computer industry.

There's a good piece out there called why consoles are killing the PC game market (or similar). I'll see if i can link it later.
This one came up during my search, 15 Reasons PC Gaming Beats All | PCWorld
but there's the other side of the argument out there too. PC wins!

I'd say that PC gaming is actually better than ever, a lot of people are moving towards the PC due to game modding.

I don't ever see PC gaming dying, but shifting, quite possibly. MMO's and PC's have always gone together like PB+J. As mentioned, RTS games just don't quite work on consoles but I could easily see a mouse and keyboard add-on becoming mainstream in the next gen of consoles, especially since they are becoming more PC-like.
Although I'm a staunch supporter of desktops, there's one thing PC's will likely have an edge on for a long time to come: Laptop gaming. As seen with the m11x and a few others, a laptop does it best. Can't bust out a 30lb 360 in a bus terminal or anything can I? And I can play things a bit more complex than Pokemon White (still a big poke fan so I"m not bashing or anything) or the latest novelty Mario themed game.
LAN gaming also takes the cake, who the crap likes split screen? Even works if the net is down, or not an option.

Call of duty 4 servers are down for consoles. Keeping that in mind, then really pc gaming is winning. Call of duty 4 was the last great call of duty game, and as IW split, it will remain that way.

every couple of years I see this same thing being said....

"PC gaming is dying! It's dead!"

Hasn't happened yet, and I sincerely doubt it's going to. PC gaming is where the programmers learn to do the tricks now that they are going to use on the consoles in 10 years when they catch up.

I remember console players flipping out about 720 resolutions and 1080. I have never played a game on any PC at anything less than 768 lines of resolution. Shortly after that it was 1600x1200. Did that long ago.

Consoles are a generation away from 3D and quite likely very far away from anything like "eyefinity".

And console player probably never will. I can't see any parents allowing their kid 3 TV's in the living room, or rec room. And I can't really see any 4:1 TV's coming out (the same as 3 4x3 monitors) let alone 5.33:1 (3 16x9).

perhaps consoles will continue as the poor man's gaming and higher end pc's as rich man's ? :)

i mean a 300 dollar console will beat anything you can put together for the same price with monitor...right? :)
