I've only purchased from Steam up to this point. If BF3 was only on EA's service then I'd go with them to buy it. If they cut off themselves like that all they're hurting is themselves.

Well BF3 will be released before the star wars mmo, and that is the only one they have mentioned will be exclusive at this point. I think if BF3 were to be exclusive to Origin they would have already mentioned that.

I don't think Origin is another program. It's just the store name/download manager name. Also, I have a feeling hackers might target Steam next...

It will not be exclusive to Origin, but Steam doesn’t want a game that not exclusive to them, unless Crysis 2 was an exception or EA don't tell everything about what happen. From the facts Origins advertise some game that will be exclusive to them, that’s not something to please Steam.

Like I said, this bodes poorly for any EA Steam game when it comes to updates / patches. Very poorly indeed.

Personally, I would not care where I download my games from, as long as it's reliable and a reputable source. When Steam was a must to play HL2, I did not like it; then I got use to it. What got me is when I downloaded (thankfully for only 20$) Bioshock 2, through Steam, but one had to also set up and log-on to GWL; that was a PITA.

Damn that sucks ... I don't care about Crysis, but I'm going to be pissed if I can't get BF3 through Steam. I made the mistake of purchasing BFBC2 from EA's download service, and I can't stand not having it on Steam, as I have to worry about keeping a backup ... and sometimes the Steam shortcut doesn't like to work etc.

ARGH!

Last week I think it was, I launched EADM and it said there was an update.
The update was to change the name to Origin, but everything else stayed the same in EADM, ie: look and feel.

I HATE EA Download manager. It doesn't work half the time you need it to.
