Heh, well my Cousin bought it, so he'll be over on the weekend to play it.

I'll give my two cents , Personally I think the best class of Game like this is HL2 (hopefully HL3 will be out eventually).

We'll give it a go, but I never had high hopes to begin with.

I haven't played the multiplayer yet but I have been slowy taking my time to get through the single player and I am not sure what all the fuss is about.

Its Duke Nukem, There is a lot of cheesy one liners and lots of swearing but I kinda expected that seeing how its Duke Nukem...

The graphics seem fine to me and I haven't experienced any glitches in game play or bugs yet. The AI "EDF" soldiers or police are not the most intelligent of AI's but they are mostly canon fodder anyway!

The only thing I noticed that bugs me is the distance in the levels before loading screens, but you only see a loading screen for a few seconds before the next section loads so its not all that bad but I am a little confused why at some points they are so close together.

I haven't really had any issues with only being able to carry 2 guns at a time either, Although it would be much cooler to be able to have them all like in the original Duke Nukem 3D I won't argue that at all but I don't feel like its impacting the game play at the same time.

Maybe its just me but I bought Duke Nukem under the impression it was going to be Duke Nukem and so far the game has delivered exactly what I expected it to, maybe that'll change as I get further into the game but so far its exactly what I wanted it to be.

The problem is people are forgetting Duke Nukem "isn't" the Duke Nukem that the media has hyped him up to be, and that nostalgia is making people forget how tame Duke Nukem 3D actually was.

In Duke Nukem 3D there were cheesy one liners and swearing, but not on the level that Forever takes it too.

Duke Nukem 3D was a shooter that had sex jokes thrown in.

Duke Nukem Forever is a sex joke that has shooting thrown in.

And where's the problem with that? The world has become a lot more liberal when it comes to sexuality in the past 12+ years, so DNF is now built for today's media and not the world it was when DN3D came out.

I have no probs with the low brow humour and lame porn. IMHO what Jebusman is saying is that they concentrated too much on that aspect and not enough on the GAME. If this was a great game that happened to have one liners and naked women...it would have been a true sequel to the original. As it stands its just a lame game with piss poor controls, ill thought out health, boring game play and nudity. See the dif. THAT is why peeps are pissed off. If gearbox wanted to reinvigorate the DN brand they should have released this game for like 10 buck MAX. Then it would have been an OK game as you would expect a lot less from it. Instead gearbox went for a money grab, and have severely hurt their own rep in doing so.

People paid $60 to play a game, not listen to voice clips of Duke Nukem one liners. AKG explained it well.

AKG's explanation was about 1000% dead on.

In the end, Duke Nukem Forever will still go down in history as the game that took forever to come out, and most people will forget how shitty it actually turned out.

I'm a Fan and Duke Nukem 3D was my 1st online Multiplayer game. I hope everyone understands that with the lawsuit settlement Gearbox got all of 3D Realms DNF development. Gearbox now owns Duke Nukem Fanchise, they puzzle pieced together 3D Realms content and put it out in macho package. Its true Duke Nukem to fan like me. I'm not unhappy at all. I know DNF isn't the greatest FPS ever made how could it be? Gearbox will certainly follow up with its own Duke Title 1-2 years away. That will be up of modern FPS standards.

Meanwhile Duke is Back and just enjoy what 3D Realms made that we can now play 14 years later.
