There are security measures in place by the companies who give you these in case of weird activity.

There hasn't been ANY given proof by Sony saying the CC info has been compromised they say it MIGHT have been.

So everyone over reacts and goes off the deep end.
Took me all of 5 minutes last night to clear this up for me. I called the number, the guy asked why I called, he said that Sony recommends to Visa to cancel the card, so I requested it. he asked 2-3 security questions, verified the last few transactions, and said a new card will arrive in about a week.

Can't get any simpler, or stress-free, than that.

I hope Valve either has tight enough security already or is taking measures to prevent this. That has me worried. I don't own a ps3 and may never after this fiasco.

Steam, Sony, Xbox... they all have stuff like this.

You gonna boycott everyone?

People are seriously blowing this whole situation out of proportion.

No CC info on Xbox though. You have the option of buying Cards (Like Time cards for MMORPG's) and using those to purchase services and X-Box Live Membership.

I love them for it. You hack their Data base, you have nothing on me that will hurt me.

You can do the exact same thing for the PSN network too ;) But people don't.

I don't have a Sony PS3, so I wouldn't know.

You can certainly put your CC info into XBL and it is just as prone to attack as PSN is, as is any online service. Although i don't know the security measures in place for these services.

It's never an over-reaction to cancel a credit card.Any bank will tell you cancelling a credit card , if you are even slightly worried, is always the best choice.Takes 5 mins and costs the bank 5 cents. They prefer that cost to eating a bunch of bad charges...

As for any other data sony might have lost , thats certainly no big deal.
