Default XBOX or PS3 ???

Hey. I have a Wii but looking into getting into "better' console gaming. Any opinions would be useful. Thanks.

There is already a big thread about this somewhere in the Gaming Section. Look for it and read.

Kind of an old thread, much has been done to both systems since then. Here's my suggestion on how to decide.

1. Do you want to play online with all your friends who have a 360? If yes, get it. If no go to 2.
2. Look at the library of exclusive games. This is how I decided and by far PS3 exclusives were much more appealing to me than 360 exclusives.
3. PS3 = BD player, free online, 1000s of free demos, huge backlog of PS1 games and fantastic PS2 games being updated to HD.

Don't even bother nitpicking about graphics as there are endless arguments on both sides. If you are buying any multiplatform games on anything other than PC and bitching about graphics.. well that's lame imho. ;-)

I've been in the same situation recently and started a thread about it. The best thing was that it stayed civil.

Help me choose a console

BTW ends up i bought the PS3. Yesterday.

Yeah read over some of the other threads, and it all depends on what your going to use your console for. blu ray, or exclusives, or budget, or what your friends have. Take all this into consideration. Its not which is better, because its different for everyone, I get ragged on all the time from my buddies because I ended up getting a ps3 and they all had 360's. but what I wanted a console for, blu ray, I dont play a lot of games, so free online is nice plus the demos.

The ps3 suited me better than a 360, but we dont know you, so its something your going to have to figure out :)

I have all three consoles and back in the day I did play my PS3 quite a lot and never really touched my Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii.

But I have gotten pretty much back into 100% PC gaming mode. My PS3 has only been getting used for watching movies lately, my Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are both packed up in the original boxes because I never use them.

The main 3 reasons I use my PS3 are #1 Blu-Ray Movies, #2 Netflix and soon to be #3 Gran Turismo 5.

Only if you could go back in time and buy the 20/60/80gb models. The new ones do not include the PS2 emulator chip. So you're stuck with PS1 games in essence for the newer models. Only a handful of PS2 games are updated to HD, namely god of war, and you will have to pay for it again for the same game...

I would stick with suggestion 1. Check the distribution of each amongst your friends.

I have both. I enjoy PS3 exclusives more, but play 360 more often since it's what most of my friends have. I only use PS3 for movies, exclusives, and games that are heavy on the D-pad (I hate the 360 one). I think both consoles are great though. Like more people said, it really comes down to who you want to play online with, and which exclusives you want to play.

Ya I know, BC would be really, really nice in my Slim since I have a pretty large stack of PS2 games as well. But my PS2 still works like a charm so if I really want to play them I can. There have been a few more announcements about PS2 game updates though. Some of which I am actually going to pick up.

SOTC/Ico (getting this for sure)
PoP: SOT (and others coming soon too)
Sly Cooper Collection (getting this for sure)

I am sure we'll see more and more as this is easy money for publishers. I don't think I'll get the PoP games though. $15 for what is essentially a patch for game I already own on 2 other platforms... I can live without me thinks.
