Wink Any Real Time Strategy fans?

I own / like a plethora of games, but my favorite genre would have to be real time strategies. Some of my favs of that genre: Total War series, Company of Heroes series, and to a lesser extent the Age of Empires series.

Any other RTS fans out there?

It's not the common man that's important at all. It's the uncommon man.

RTS's are great

My favourite would have to be the Supreme Commander series (the first one and forged alliance are best)

But i have pretty much played them all and for me personally none other has as much depth or detail

Good when you have challenging players to play against

I guess you haven't seen the other threads like Starcraft 2 and Civ 5

Favorite RTS would be Starcraft obviously, and I liked the old C&C games but not so much the newer ones.

I love RTS, sadly all my friends that i play games with hate them.. One of my favorites that i still play today is Dawn of war dark crusade (I freaking hate DOW2..). I play some starcraft II, but I'm slowly getting bored of it.

Would civ be considered a true RTS? It's turned based isn't it?

Civ isn't a RTS, even with its awesomeness.

Considering this is a PC gaming forum, i would suppose most of the members here are fans of rts...

Right now enjoying SCII and Heroes of Newerth

Erm...sswilson is correct...Civ 5 is a TBS, dude.

I like both TBS and RTS genres although my preference leans towards TBS since I don't have to worry about the frenetic mouse-clicking-to-get-things-done pace.

Fave RTS:

Starcraft (both)
Homeworld series (time for a new one!)
Sins of a Solar Empire series

Fave TBS:

Civilization series (of course!)
Alpha Centauri & Alien Crossfire (time for a new one, too!)
Age of Wonders
Master of Orion 2

My all time Favs:

Homeworld (I still play all of the games in that series)
Company of Heros
Sacrifice (devilishly hard but oh so rewarding)
Ground Control (honestly, you MUST try this one)
Imperium Galactica II
Black & White
Sins of a Solar Empire
Rome: Total War (the last "good" game in the TW series IMO)

I like:
Starcraft II (keeping me a little too busy)
Company of Heroes (not played a lot lately cuz of previous)
I also liked others, but I have to go way back in time due to the lack of a proper computer.

Heroes of might and magic series (leave out the 4)

The last RTS I have played is Company of Heroes, and I really got into that game. It is one of the only games that I have ever bothered to try playing competitively online. There is something mentally stimulating about it, almost like a really intense chess game. I don't really play much anymore, but when I did I remember that absolutely nothing could disturb me or I would lose. One wrong move and you lose a squad and you are done.
