i noticed these were not mentioned and i'm finding them enjoyable right now (i've been on a game playing spree lately!):

FPS:
Gears of War
Unreal Tournament 3
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (came with my Asus Maximus Formula motherboard)
Kane and Lynch

MMO:
Tabula Rasa (much better than i thought... combat is FPS-like)

RTS:
Supreme Commander
Settlers 6

as for upcoming games, i was a big Starcraft fan so i'm looking forward to Starcraft 2

for MMO, i'm looking forward to try Warhammer online...

i hope Blizzard makes a World of Diablo MMO or something, hehe.. i hope they continue to make Diablo in 2D... i love all the classic 2D games and i'm always disappointed when studios turn them into 3D just because everything seems to be 3D now... like Command and Conquer... Kohan... Settlers... i'm happy to see Blizzard realized this for Starcraft 2!!

If you enjoy open ended RPG play, you can't go wrong with Oblivion.

There is no multi-player, however I jumped from D2 straight to oblivion and played it for a good couple of months without even bothering with the main quests.

I got a good 300 hours of really enjoyable gameplay out of it and there's still a lot more to do (still haven't completed the main quest(s) ) as well as some expansion packs to throw on.

Best $60 I've spent in a long time. :)

Command and Conquer looks amazing now. And Starcraft 2 is being done in 3D...dunno what your talking about...And Kane and Lynch was very disappointing IMO.

I still think Morrowind is better then Oblivion, nothing like being a werewolf making a town fear for it's life during the night, while your there best friend during the day! And I'm still standing by the fact Baulders Gate 2 is a must own. $20 gives you enough options and game play to last any RPG buff. Speaking of which...another oldie is Fallout, buy it now and DESTROY THE BROTHERHOOD!

Well..... there's always the Oblivion vampire option, but it sucks having the sun melt your face off during the day......... :)
