Woe is me. I'm a sucker for physical media. I do have some games on Steam that I found impossible to find in a box in my small neck of the woods. I do use Steam where I can to do away with disk checks. I do this for my UT3 Black Edition. Added bonus of auto updates when patches come out.

Wanted to pick up Portal 2 today but 50 bucks? Really?

Ya, I only buy Steam or other non media games if they're on sale (sub $30).
I can't see myself spending more than $30 on any game if there's no physical media!

I won't even pay that much for a game with little to no replay value. Back in 2001 I paid $60.00 for Operation Flashpoint: Cold War. Primarily because I was involved with a clan then that was devoted to that game. Immense replay value. In a big bad ass box with a great manual and reference card showing key bindings and such. It was the best of it's kind and has yet to be topped even by Codemasters attempt at a sequel which I own a DD copy of thanks to a forum member. But I didn't and won't pay for that crap.

I will however buy a boxed copy of Portal 2 for cheap as the reviews all seem to be positive about it. It's not hard to find decent DD deals. A guy pointed to a digital distributor that sold me Just Cause 2 for around 7 bucks from the UK. Then I just gave Steam my key. I would have bought the boxed version but my local EB games is too enemic to sell many PC games and the game was apparently not good enough to grace the PC game shelves at Wal-Mart (losers).

Yes, I blame the influx of consoles for this conundrum. This isn't 2001. We need to get back there. Charge the flux capacitor!

Metro 2033 - Buy and download on GamersGate

Metro 2033 is 75% today at Gamersgate, much better than Steams sale today of 50% off Metro 2033.
Just link the cd-key to your Steam account.

Hmmm.....does the 25% off work for pre-orders? I'd buy Witcher II and then use the CD key on Steam.

Waiting until Mass Effect 1+2 go on sale on Steam too.
