GTA 4 Performance...

Just got this game recently...
All settings maxed(except AF and Draw Distance).
The game still skips frames and becomes laggy sometimes...
I have a Intel i7 930,
6GB of G.Skill 1600 Mhz RAM
ATI Radeon 5870.

Shouldn't it be working smoothly?
Or is the game just not optimised properly?

Thanks in advance.

Im going to guess its patched all the way right? If not, the patches really help the performance (at least for me).

Well this game is a mess, but reducing Shadow to High or Normal (both of them) help greatly..

Even with latest patch this game is a huge resource hog. Turning down shadows definitely helps but not by much. Try to reduce view distance and the number of vehicles that can be on screen at the same time.
