Default In the market for a new gaming headset... Help me out!

What are your experiences with gaming headsets? I'm buying a new soundcard (so I'm not looking for a USB headset), and was looking to upgrade my current set (plantronic audio 350... garbage..). I'm looking to spend $50-80. $100 bucks max if it is really the BEST deal.

I've thought about the Creative Fatal1ty headset, and that looks like a good bet. I like the fact that it covers the ears, and doesn't rest ON them.
Newegg.ca - Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

There is also the Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 that have received good reviews:
Newegg.ca - Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with chat

This razer headset is more expensive, and I would assume you are paying for the name... but it also got good reviews:
Newegg.ca - RAZER Carcharias 3.5mm Circumaural Professional Gaming Headset

Anyone have any opinions on those, or have other great suggestions?

One of my roommates actually picked up a Carcharias a while ago, and it's a pretty sweet piece of kit. It might have just been a result of him wearing them ALL the time, but they didn't seem to clamp onto my head at all when I tried them on (and I have a pretty large head; it's hard to buy hats). It was just a quick testrun so I didn't get a chance to do any serious listening, but the sound quality was good from what I heard. The mic quality on it is clear as well, never have trouble hearing him in-game.

No experience with the other two though. A friend of mine picked up one of those Turtle Beach surround headsets a while ago (HPA2, I think?) and ended up replacing them, but I think that was more a result of the surroundness than the Turtle Beachness.

Get the Zalman mic: NCIX.com - Buy Zalman ZM-MIC 1 Microphone - ZM-MIC1 In Canada.

And a more audiophile headphone like this: Shure Pro Quality Headphones - Black - SRH240;Electronics;iPods;Electronics;London Drugs

Note**: I am not an audiophile but I know that that brand "Shure" is good.

For the $50 price range, I've got the Sennheiser PC151's, and love them. I actually bought another set when I broke my last ones. On sale again this week at NCIX.

Everyone brand has their "we had an argument in the office" product. The 240 is one of them.
