Blur- Best racing game of the year?

Anyone else have this or try it? I bought it from the project Gotham racing pedigree the game has, and i haven't been disappointed. At first i thought the game was so so. But it grows on you the more you play. I cant remember the last game i have played where after each race i have a huge grin on my face, and wanting to play another round of races, even if i came in dead last. The appeal of screwing other players over is just so fun! The attacks in the game are quite cleaver, there is no overpowering attack, the are all tactical in their uses, and usually they all have their own defensive uses or alternate attacking methods. If you haven't tried it, i recommend you do. I need more victims, er i mean friends to play with :)

I might try it. The commercial makes it more appealing. :haha:

I tried Blur and Split Second over the last week. I'm actually enjoying SS more. Good arcade style fun on both, but look elsewhere if you're looking for a sim-style racer.

More like the only one so far

S/S is definitely a better game by a yardstick

Technokat May 31, 2010 10:15 AM

i tried both, split second is one of those kind of games that has a gimmick, and that gimmick wears off really fast. IMO. Blur is a little more of a slow burn. As i said when i tried it at first i wasn't loving it, it was just OK. But i kept playing it, and the more i played the better i liked. Part of it is learning how to effectively use the power ups, besides just madly pressing buttons. The really good part of the game is the multi player. If you are making decisions on this game from a short playing of it, or just some single player, i don't think you are getting the full picture. But hey everyone has an opinion.

It's mario cart..no matter how you look at it it's just mario cart. I've had enough mario cart back in N64, and I don't intend on playing more mario cart.

S/S just feels better in general as a racing game.

my only prob with this game is that my logitech controller dosn't work with it..first racing game that it never worked with

Technokat May 31, 2010 11:23 AM

My 360 controller works fine. Its similar to mario kart yes, but it has a lot more depth than mariokart ever had. mariokart plays really slow compared to blur. And doesnt have as much tactical depth. If you want to judge a book by its cover then yes its mario kart, just like every shooter is wolfenstein. God forbid on evolution of a concept.
