Steam Game Properties?
Does anybody have experience with the "Defragment game cache files" option for individual steam games?

I just noticed the option this evening, and had been having problems with DAO starting to display what appeared to be HDD stutter (did a full re-install since then). Any chance that this Steam option might have resolved my issue?

Windows defrag can bring files together on the hard disk, but the Steam defrag can reorganize the files from within the .gcf files, which may help out with issues that you're having.

Won't make a difference for non-Valve games. Other games don't actually use the GCFs for game data storage. Their content is all in the /steamapps folder.
