Who knows? Probably just a poor choice of example for what can be done with the tech, that's all. That kind of stuff is going to be very art direction specific in games me thinks.

I played around with this benchmark yesterday, but I don't have a DX11 card (yet). How do the ropes look with tessellation on?

i think they exaggerated how bad the steps in the dx9 version would look tbh.
